Messi received the ball from Luis Suarez and chopped onto his right foot before drilling a shot low into the corner to put his side 2-0 up in the 57th minute, having only stepped onto the pitch in the 55th. The Argentine then celebrated by mimicking a tennis forehand shot – a dedication to Novak Djokovic, who he spent the day with on Friday.

Victory gave Inter Miami their fourth win from five matches this season and sees them top of the MLS Eastern Conference with a game in hand. It capped a good week for Messi, who connected with Djokovic after the Serb's Miami Open semi-final and exchanged shirts.
